A traveling design studio based in sunny Southern California.

Playa Design Co. started out as a dream of mine when I quit my full-time job in January 2020, looking to travel and spread my creative wings outside the boundaries of an office. I find that working with multiple brands in different industries keeps my work exciting and keeps me thinking on my toes. One common theme with all my clients is that they exist with a greater purpose beyond just selling a product which keeps me motivated, knowing that my work is for a good cause and helping people.

When I’m not at my computer, I am surfing and traveling. The perks of hiring a traveling art director is that I am fantastic at scheduling in different time zones, and I’m constantly inspired by my ever-changing environment. My brand name is inspired by where my business started in Playa Del Rey, California. Since then I hop from playa to playa (Spanish for beach) as the sun and waves are what keeps me positive and energized.

My love for graphic design started with my lifelong passion for art and storytelling.

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. When I was in grade school, I would go through sketchbooks so quickly. One drawing wasn’t enough – I needed to create an entire storyline. I still work this way today (except using an iPad most of the time and saving a lot of paper). Drawing has always been an important part of my creative foundation and process.

When I first started studying graphic design in college, I hated it. I missed drawing and painting and the physicality of what I’m used to creating, and did not mesh well with Adobe for awhile. Slowly but surely my passion for creating transferred onto the screen and helped shape the unique design style that I have today, mixing art and design to tell stories in a seamless way. My computer screen became a canvas and my design programs became my art supplies, and today I’m lucky to say that I love what I do and create every day.
